2 Louisiana deputies fired for payroll scam

Lousiana Deputies Scam

BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — Two Louisiana sheriff’s deputies face charges for allegedly participating in a payroll fraud scheme.

The East Baton Rouge Parish sheriff’s office said 27-year-old Michael Arthur and 25-year-old Andre Weber were arrested on charges of theft and malfeasance in office on Monday. News outlets report both men also were fired.

It was unknown if either has an attorney who could comment on their behalf.

Arthur was a two-year veteran of the agency’s Uniform Patrol; Weber had worked for the same division for the past year and a half.

Court documents say video shows Arthur clocking in himself and Weber for a security shift at an area business. Documents also show both men were simultaneously working their shifts at the sheriff’s office.
